The magic of Springtime is palpable across the rolling hills and valleys of Zululand. Spirits soar as bird song fills the air, and Christmas bell blossoms wave in the sunlight.

Here the beautiful cow, Young Lady Dancing, brings the heart of spring to life as she nuzzles her newborn calf. She herself was a gift. On the day of his daughter’s wedding, a man presented his wife with this beautiful cow – an expression of his appreciation for all the love and nurture that his wife had given their daughter.

The Nguni cattle are actually descended from the wild aurochs in Mesopotamia. Domesticated over 10,000 years ago, they migrated down through Africa to South Africa.

Cherished by the Zulus, they represent so much more than wealth. Nguni cattle are expressions of love, appreciation, and naturally evoke praise for their beauty. The passion of this praise echoes through the valleys of Zululand.
